Director Marcelo Galvão wants to familiarize Ariel Goldenberg and Rita Pokk with cameras and Gatacine crew in order to shoot “Colegas” in 2009.
Brazilian director Marcelo Galvão has started the laboratory with Ariel Goldenberg and Rita Pokk, actors with Down syndrome who will be protagonists of the feature film “Colegas” (Mates), whose script was also written by Galvão. The idea is to promote several practices to make them familiarized with cameras and Gatacine crew, in addition to registering the backstage for the production of a documentary film as well. The backstage of this road movie will be also available on this blog from now on.
“Colegas” tells the story of three young people with Down syndrome who love movies and work at the video library of the institution where they have always lived in. One day, inspired by the feature film “Thelma & Louise”, they decide to run away using the gardener’s old car to have a freedom experience. They travel to uncommon places in search for three simple wishes: Ariel wants to see the sea, Ritinha looks for a husband and Marcio needs to fly. During this wild adventure, they get into troubles as if life was just another movie.
The script, which has recently been awarded in an important local film festival (Paulínia Film Festival), has attracted several Brazilian and foreign production companies interested in co-production.
